A little help getting started.

Set up for listening

Put on over-ear headphones with the left and right earcups on the correct sides. Make sure the implant-side earcup sends sound to your processor’s microphone. In your device’s accessibility audio settings, turn Mono Audio off and center the left/right balance.

Calibrate for your headphones

Open Settings → Listening setup in the app and follow the guided steps. Keep your device’s media volume low but not muted. The app listening level and the device volume work together; changing either changes how loud the sound is. Recalibrate when your headphones or listening setup changes.

I don’t hear sound

Check that your headphones are selected as the audio output and that your device’s media volume is not muted. During normal listening, your processor should be on and its coil in place. Also check the app listening level: 0% is silent. During calibration, follow the current step’s processor instructions instead.

The headphone check plays one short chime in both earcups. Hearing it in either ear is enough. If you hear it, choose I hear sound to continue. If a control stays stuck or a book plays but the check does not, contact support with the app version and the step where it happened.

Choose something to listen to

Open Library → Add content. Pre-recorded books include their narration; wait for the complete download before playing. Text books can use installed Apple voices on iPhone or iPad. Optional Premium voices use Microsoft Azure and need an internet connection and a configured service; service charges may apply.

Downloads and offline listening

Use Wi-Fi for large book downloads. Allow downloads over cellular is off by default. If a download is interrupted, retry it in the app. Keep the installed edition to listen offline; removing it from My library also removes its managed audio and reading progress, not your original file.
